Rendering Supervisor
Description
The
Rendering Supervisor is responsible for working with production to assess
render resource needs and supervise a team of render wranglers. He or she is also responsible for ensuring
that all render jobs run through the render farm correctly and dictates the
guidelines for the Rendering team.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Work with the CG Supervisor and
all the post departments to assess the render resources required for the
production.
- Create weekly render resource
usage reports
- Supervise a team of multiple
render wranglers.
- Create and maintain the rendering
pipeline documentation in collaboration with the CG Supervisor
- Responsible for watching job
queues, re-prioritizing jobs and checking frames based on the production
priorities to ensure that the render jobs run smoothly through the render
farm.
- Work
with IT department to keep all render resources available and running in
good order.

Maintain
regular observation of the render farm functionality and optimization.

Educate
and support other departments with their rendering needs.
·
Inform
and help execute shot optimizations.
·
Report
to the Pipeline and CG Supervisors with any render farm issues.
Required Skills &
Experience:
- Completed post-secondary
education in CG Animation, Computer Science, or other relevant area of
study, with a high degree of computer literacy
- Knowledge of PipelineFx Qube or
Tractor.
- Ability to lead and train members
of a team.
- Familiar with Digital content
creations software (Maya, Nuke).
- Experience with RenderMan or
equivalent film production renderer is an asset.
- Experience with scripting (Python)
preferred.
- Strong ability to prioritize
tasks and time-management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to record information accurately and to
produce relevant reports.
- Experience
with 3D rendering pipelines and render farms.

and able to understand render job prioritization.

Highly
technical, able to help debug rendering artifacts.
·
Excellent
communication and leadership skills.
·
Experience
and/or familiarity with Lighting and FX in an animation production.
