Instructor Position in Electronic Game Programming
Division of Information Technology & Sciences
The
Division of Information Technology and Sciences at Champlain College
seeks an engaged faculty member to join its Software Technology
Department for a one-year appointment, 2014-15. First day of classes is
August 25th, 2014. We anticipate that a full academic search
for an Assistant Professor in this field will be opened by mid-fall 2014
and that any incumbent Instructor would be invited to apply for it. The
successful candidate will teach a wide range of Computer Science and
Game Programming courses. The typical teaching load is four courses per
semester. Small class sizes optimize instructor-student interaction; hands-on activities translate theory into practice. Because the
College is entrepreneurial and market driven, its academic programs
respond to industry dynamics. Consequently, the College particularly
values industry and other practical experience for its faculty and
students.
Desired skills and knowledge should
include professional level knowledge of C++, 2D/3D graphics and game
engine programming, developing game architecture, networking, AI for
games development, proficiency in programming languages used in the
games industry (such as AS3, C#, or other languages) and Unity 3D.
A
bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field plus intensive/extensive
industry experience would be sufficient for our most serious
consideration. The ideal candidate would have a successful teaching
record, industry software development experience and an MS in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field.
The
successful candidate should be able to help build intercultural
understanding and demonstrate multicultural perspectives that can foster
a diverse and inclusive community both inside and outside of the
classroom.
Applications must include a résumé/CV,
a letter of interest specifically addressing the desired
qualifications, and contact information (names, addresses, telephone
numbers, and e-mail addresses) for three references. Position will
remain open until filled. The successful completion of a criminal
background check is required as a condition of employment.

cultures and perspectives of students, faculty and staff. We are an
