Description
POSITION: Moore College of Art & Design is seeking to hire a full-time
faculty to teach in the new Interactive & Motion Arts major. The 3-year
full-time appointment starts in August 2014. Salary and rank commensurate with
experience and is subject to the collective bargaining agreement with Moore
Federation of Teachers.
QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate should hold an advanced degree in animation,
visual communication, interactive design, digital media design, or a related
field. A Bachelor’s degree, along with significant and exemplary professional
experience in the industry may also be considered. A minimum of five years
professional experience in animation or an interactive arts related industry
such as games, visual effects or mobile application design is required.
Candidates should be well versed in the creation of 2D and 3D game art assets,
game design theory, environment and level design, game scripting, and game
prototyping. The successful candidate will have in-depth knowledge of industry
standard software packages such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, 3D Studio
Max, and Maya. Candidates should also be well versed in various game engines
and related prototyping tools such as Unreal and Unity. At least three years of
college-level teaching experience in practical, theoretical and critical
aspects of Interactive and Motions Arts is highly desirable. Further
consideration will be given to those candidates who have demonstrated the
ability to lead students through collaborative professional projects that
encourage innovation alongside a strong emphasis on practical industry skills.
To excel in this position an individual will display strong mentoring skills
and will continually look for opportunities to expose students to other
experienced professionals in the interactive industry. Excellent written and
communication skills are a must. Experience developing innovative curriculum is
preferred.
DUTIES: The full-time faculty annual teaching load is 18 credits.
Full-time faculty are expected to be on campus at least 3 days a week, maintain
regular office hours, be available for advising students, recruitment and/or
department activities and related duties, including committee work. Coordinate
annual symposium/event as a means to increase the visibility of the Interactive
& Motion Arts major to prospective students and employers in the game arts
field for potential internship placements. Individuals are sought who can
work collaboratively with their colleagues, staff and administration and who
can work strategically across the College to support recruitment and retention.
