Description
As a key part of the management team
in our New York office alongside the Managing Director and Creative Staff. The main
responsibilities of this position are to manage production of all work through
the facility and to run the production teams. The Head of Production has
oversight of all project budgets and schedules and specific responsibility for
those project revenues and costs pertaining to the VFX work.
Responsibilities:
Production Management
•
Responsible for recruitment and daily
management of VFX Production team
•
Appraisals of all production staff
•
To assess production needs,
allocating relevant VFX resources to each project
•
Key point of contact for issues
arising in projects and escalating issues and recommendations to MD and COO
•
Joint responsibility for monitoring
production tools and workflows.
•
Joint responsibility for new show
pipeline needs and procedures.
VFX Production
•
To maintain an overview of all VFX
projects ensuring projects are completed to highest standard achievable
•
To meet regularly to monitor project
budgets and ensure that they are within approved gridlines
•
Work with sales staff related to
clients responsibility and budget
•
To engage in production team
mentoring, support and training as agreed
Budgetary Control
•
Responsible for working with MD and
or COO to establish approved budgets at start of project
•
Monitoring project costs in line with
production progress and overall budgetary targets
•
To meet regularly to monitor project
budgets and ensure that they are working within given targets
Additional Responsibilities:
•
Act as a VFX Producer when needed
•
Project crewing needs and costs for
all VFX projects
• Joint responsibility with business development staff for new
business meetings and bidding
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Proven experience as a VFX Producer on Advertising, Television and Feature Film Projects
• Ability to manage and cater to clients
• Business acumen and an ability to balance financial responsibilities with client and company expectations
• Thorough understanding of VFX production pipelines and post production in general
• Excellent communication skills required, both written and verbal.
• Must have strong organizational skills.
• Must have strong scheduling, tracking and resource management skills.
• Must be collaborative and a resourceful and creative problem solver.
• Requires a self-starter with high level of initiative.
• At least 5 years of VFX producing experience.
• Ensure communication among production team and to senior management.
• Experience leading teams of at least 35 people.
• Extremely organized and proficient overseeing multiple project schedules.
• Ability to work well under pressure and with strict deadlines.
• Strong knowledge of the New York VFX Market
• Must have experience recruiting staff and freelance artists and production staff
