Systems Engineer
Job Description:
The Senior Systems Engineer
provides remote and onsite support for PCs, Macs, networking equipment,
servers, firewalls, and desktop software.
This position will also be the sole escalation point for all difficult-to-solve
issues. The candidate should expect and not be opposed to performing a wide
variety of IT support ranging from simple desktop and peripheral support to
complex server and network issues, as dictated by client request and company
workload. Candidates must also be willing to work directly with all types of
clients and internal staff, from technical to the very non-technical, and be
ready to act as a mentor to technical staff.
Only candidates with recent
experience working as the top-level, go-to technical resource for escalations
will be considered. The Senior Systems Engineer will also assist our Project
Team as needs dictate and will also spearhead complex client projects on
his/her own as needed.

office hours of 9:00am to 6:00pm PST, as well as any late workdays that are
typical with IT positions from time to time
Technical
Job Requirements:

8+ years professional experience in supporting, and at least
2 years professional
·
experience acting as the final escalation point for the
following:
·
Amazon web services (AWS) – expert knowledge: S3, Load
Balance, CDN, DB, and tools development
·
TCP/IP, network connectivity and networking equipment for
both LAN and WAN topologies, including: routers, managed switches, VLANs, WLANs,
NAT, firewalls
·
Microsoft Windows XP/Vista/7, Microsoft Outlook and the
Office Suite
·
Microsoft Exchange (2000-2010) and Microsoft Server
(2000-2008, including SBS)
·
Symantec Antivirus software
·
Unix or Linux (any variety is acceptable)
·
Microsoft Active Directory
·
Server hardware and related technologies, including: RAID,
iLO, baremetal restores, backup methodologies
·
Internet-related technologies, including: DNS, registrars,
SSL, webhosting providers
·
Mobile email platforms such as BES and Microsoft Activesync
·
Virtualization platforms, including but not limited to
VMWare
·
2+ years professional experience supporting Apple Mac
desktops and laptops, when integrated into a Microsoft Active Directory and
Exchange environment
·
Candidate must come already-equipped with a lengthy
“knowledge base” of best practices and problem resolutions for each of the
above-mentioned technologies
·
Candidate must be able to immediately exhibit the ability to
quickly be able to take escalations from less-experienced engineers and resolve
them swiftly, and independently.
Education
and Certification Requirements:
·
Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Information Technology or
Computer Science preferred
·
Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSE): Messaging
or equivalent technical ability and experience
·
Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist: Windows 2008 or
equivalent technical ability and experience
·
MCITP: Enterprise Administrator or equivalent technical
ability and experience
·
VMware VCP or equivalent technical ability and experience
·
CompTIA Network+ and A+ or equivalent technical ability and
experience
·
Cisco CCNA or equivalent technical ability and experience
