The Computer Science Department at Cal Poly, San Luis
Obispo, invites applications for a full-time, tenure- track, academic year,
Computer Science faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank
beginning no later than Fall 2014. Rank and salary are commensurate with
qualifications and experience. Candidates with industry experience are
encouraged to apply. Duties include teaching undergraduate and master's level
courses, expanding the curricula in "Game Development and Interactive
Entertainment"; strengthening our courses in the areas of computer
graphics and animation, pursuing research in these areas; and providing service
to the department, the university, and the community. A doctorate in Computer
Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field is required.
Particular areas of interest include: computer graphics and interactive media,
game development (both entertainment and serious games), and/or data
visualization. Specializations such as real-time animation and effects, game
engine architecture, and playable media (including graphics for mobile and
novel interface mechanisms) are preferred.
Candidates must have a strong commitment to teaching excellence and
laboratory-based instruction; dedication to continued professional development
and scholarship; and a broad-based knowledge of computer science/software
engineering. Demonstrated ability in written and oral use of the English
language is required.
Cal Poly is currently developing a unique multi-disciplinary emphasis in the
area of Game Development and Interactive Entertainment. The successful
candidate will play a pivotal role in this strategic initiative that
constitutes a pivotal pillar in the newly developed Center for Expressive
Technologies. Past experience and a commitment to working in a
multidisciplinary and collaborative setting is preferred.

Science, Software Engineering, and Master's Degrees in Computer Science. Cal
