At Sleepy Giant, we run games.

We create fun, immersive experiences for gamers, along with powerful tools for game publishers to host and manage their titles. We invented the space we are in, and are constantly innovating and expanding it.

With that in mind, we're looking for hacker-spirited web engineers who like to range freely, full-stack. After a short and well-supported ramp-up period, you'll contribute to the backend development of interesting projects in the game services space, using dev-friendly tech like Ruby, Rails, Sinatra, Angular.js, Node.js, CoffeeScript, Unity, iOS, redis, mongo, memcached, and so on.

Our ideal candidate is a “maker”, not just a consumer.  Examples of things you might have made:

• Ruby gems or other libraries
• Patches submitted to OS projects
• Neat tech demos on JSFiddle or Codepen
• A fully-functioning game
• An app published on one of the app stores
• A robot, a rocket, or some Arduino / Raspberry Pi gizmo
• Your own business, however small
• An active Github account with interesting public repos
• Answers on Stack Overflow

Examples of things you’ll do at Sleepy Giant:

• Help build a sweet game services platform
• Help architect new systems from the ground up
• Build very high-traffic, high-visibility web experiences for some of the biggest games out there, including triple-A titles
• Get an inside view of the game development world and the internal tech at top game publishers
• Work closely with game developers
• Participate in hackathons, code contests, meetups, etc.
