Research (Visualization) Programmer
Description
The National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign has one Research Programmer position available in our Advanced Visualization Lab (AVL) Directorate. This Research Programmer will focus on visualization and graphical software development in support of AVL projects. With a data and scientific visualization concentration, the research programmer will develop visualization and computational algorithms, manage complex data, test/adapt open source software, and create rendering techniques for numerical data. This individual, under the immediate direction of the AVL Director, will also support interactive graphical software for data exploration and digital image creation; and explore data plugins to adapt animation software for science. AVL collaborates to support a variety of scientific projects in domains such as Astronomy and Geoscience. The Researh Programmer is responsible for collaborating with interdisciplinary staff members and scientists; needs a strong mathematical background, and a strong interest in software creation to support high-end users and novel outreach productions.
