The Department: The Computer Animation Department is a
nationally respected program, which houses two separate majors: Computer
Animation and Game Art + Design (GD). A highly collaborative teaching
environment merges the aesthetic of feature film with today’s most current
interactive gaming hardware and software. Game students design, create, and
analyze the visual components of games,
rather than game design.
The Position: The Computer Animation Department is
seeking level designer/environment artists with Autodesk Maya and Unreal
Development Kit (UDK) experience to join a dedicated faculty teaching Game Art
and Design. Although faculty in the Department teach towards both degrees, the
primary responsibility of these new positions will focus on teaching students
to create the visual assets that make computer games.
Responsibilities: Among the duties and responsibilities, these positions require expertise in
modeling, texturing, rigging, animating, and lighting in a 3D application as
well as in UDK. The successful candidates will be responsible for teaching
three courses per semester using high-end resources to include teaching
introductory through advanced courses in creating level and environment art
assets, 3D computer animation, and basic game engine integration of those
assets. Active participation with faculty, department, and college service is
required.
