DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION INCLUDE:
Assume the primary teaching role and faculty leadership of the production program within the Film/Television Department. Teach introductory, intermediate and advanced sections of production courses for fiction and nonfiction film, including digital video production, directing, lighting, cinematography, sound, editing and studio TV production. Teach additional courses in Film/TV such as: Current Practices, Role of the Producer and Introduction to Electronic Media. Assume leadership and oversight of the CTE (Career Technical Educational) vocational program in Film/TV. Promote and develop web video courses, including curriculum to meet current industry/employment standards and trends.
Standard duties expected of all faculty include developing and evaluating curricula, maintaining scheduled office hours, attending department and division meetings, pursuing professional growth activities and performing other duties consistent with the role of an instructor. Instructors ensure the success of students through effective use and understanding of multicultural and multiethnic materials, pedagogies, forms of assessment and feedback techniques. Instructors also have the opportunity to serve on district and college committees and participate in campus extra-curricular activities. Faculty members also develop, refine and assess Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs).
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
HIRING RANGE: $52,640-$86,454 annually plus benefits; actual placement is based on applicant's verified education and experience. WORKING CONDITIONS
1. Endurance within a classroom setting, teaching students while standing, sitting, or walking throughout the classroom.
2. Use of aids such as chalkboards, posters, bulletin boards, overhead projector, television, recorder, computer, and technological equipment.
3. Retrieval, use, storage, and light lifting of teaching material, including books, equipment, assignments, etc.
4. Personally model subject-matter knowledge in written and oral language.
5. Accurately assess students' learning abilities, needs, and styles.
6. Seeing to read various materials.
7. Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person.
8. Develop and implement a behavioral management process for monitoring, evaluating, and managing both appropriate and inappropriate student behaviors.
9. Address stressful events, created by hostile students by (a) maintaining emotional control, (b) listening without judgment or retaliation, (c) reasoning objectively and consistently, (d) keeping at the forefront the best interests of the student, and (e) maintaining professionalism and due process.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-time, Permanent,
10 months per year.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, cultural, disability, religious background and sexual orientation of community college students, faculty and staff.
2. Master's degree in radio, television, film, mass communication or communication, journalism OR Bachelor's in any of the above AND Master's in drama/theater arts, communication, speech communication, business, telecommunications or English OR the equivalent.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Advanced degree in film or television with production emphasis.
2. Professional production experience in film and/or video.
3. Expertise in one or more related areas of film, video and the media arts such as producing, production crafts (lighting, sound, editing etc.), digital media, web video or gaming.
4. Teaching experience in a multicultural setting at a community college, college or university.
5. Experience in developing and writing Film/TV curriculum.
