Software Engineer
Description
General Summary
The Software Engineer in Production Technology works directly with
artists, TD’s and other engineers to develop software systems, user interfaces,
and technical solutions for a variety of complex production processes. This position is expected to design, develop
and implement tools for a number of production departments, including: Design and Fabrication, Story and Previs, Animation
and Camera, Rapid Prototyping, Editorial, and VFX.
Typical projects include the development of asset and task tracking
tools, image review and approval tools, integration of project scheduling with
completion reporting, distributed rendering tools, and developing plugins for 3rd
party digital content creation packages.
The Engineer also helps maintain the development infrastructure,
libraries, build and release tools used by the department.

Job Functions

Collaborate with production department leads and
supervisors to design technical solutions to complex production problems

Design and build new applications and pipeline
tools, develop feature sets and interoperability of existing pipeline tools
·
Initiate research and development, implement 3rd
party solutions when available, and design and build prototypes in
collaboration with others for next generation systems.

Support applications through documentation,
training and handling user questions
·
Work with IT to plan the infrastructure,
operating systems, release mechanisms and revisions controls to support
production technology toolsets
