Rochester Institute of Technology’s Chester F. Carlson Center for Imaging Science (CIS) seeks two outstanding individuals to fill tenure-track faculty positions. The preferred rank is at the Assistant Professor level, although other ranks will be considered for exceptional candidates. Preference will be given to candidates whose research expertise and knowledge will allow them to contribute to the Center’s growing research and education in 1) vision (e.g., vision science, cognitive science, computer vision, or related fields) and 2) optics for imaging (e.g., optical systems, optical image formation, optical engineering, image modeling, or related fields).
Preference will be given to candidates with a record of scholarly publication in vision or optics for imaging. THE COLLEGE/CENTER:
The Chester F. Carlson Center for Imaging Science (CIS) housed in the College of Science is a highly interdisciplinary university research and education center dedicated to pushing the frontiers of imaging in all its forms and uses. Major research thrusts within the Center include Astronomy and Space Science, Color Science, Computer Vision and Computational Photography, MRI and Ultrasound Imaging, Nano-Imaging, Optics, Remote Sensing, Sensor and Detector Development, and Vision Science. CIS offers B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Imaging Science with a systems emphasis focused on the physics of image formation, the mathematics and engineering of image processing, analysis and information extraction, and the development and application of sensor systems and imaging instrumentation. CIS also offers the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Color Science, which is a broad multidisciplinary program with courses and research in visual perception, psychophysics, color modeling of materials, and imaging systems. CIS faculty also participate actively in RIT’s Ph.D. in Astrophysical Science and Technology and RIT’s Ph.D. in Microsystems Engineering. The faculty collaborate with multiple departments across RIT including those within the College of Engineering, the College of Imaging Arts and Sciences, the College of Computing and Information Sciences and the College of Liberal Arts.
