Professor of Visual Arts and Technology
Description
STEVENS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY is seeking
outstanding candidates for two tenure-track positions (rank open) to assist
with the development of our new major in Visual Arts and Technology. We are
especially interested in individuals who work at the interface of science,
engineering, technology, and the arts, with particular interest and expertise
in data and information visualization, computational and digital media, and/or
design. The ideal candidates should have degrees in both art as well as a
science/technology based discipline, with a terminal degree (MFA, PhD)
completed by the time of application. Candidates would be expected to teach
courses in animation, digital media, visualization, and 2D/3D design,
among others. Demonstrated experience in cross-disciplinary collaborative work
is highly desired. Candidates should also have a record of success in the
classroom and possess the ability to conduct both independent as well as
collaborative research agendas. We
are especially interested in candidates who exhibit strong leadership qualities
and communication skills, along with demonstrated success in program
development to serve as possible Director of our Program in Technology and the
Arts.
The major in Visual Arts and Technology is
(along with the major in Music and Technology) part of the Program in
Technology and the Arts at Stevens, one of three major Programs in our College
of Arts and Letters. The distinctive mission of the College is to engage in
research, teaching, and scholarship at the intersection of science, technology,
the arts, and humanities, with the goal of having a positive and long-lasting
impact on society and the world.
