POSITION PURPOSE: The Creative Manager is responsible for the logistics and administration of the team. The producer coordinates the Magic creative team’s workflow, scheduling, project assignment, personnel administration, and other production jobs that fall outside the job duties of the team’s specialized staff. The Creative Manager of Magic R&D manages the Magic Creative R&D team of 4-6 creative writers and artists. KEY RELATIONSHIPS Magic Senior Creative Designer, Magic designers and developers, Director Magic Brand & Marketing, Magic Brand Manager, CAPS Creative Director, Magic R&D Director, Magic Senior Creative Art Director Supervises: Magic Art Director, Magic Creative Designers, Magic Concept Artist JOB DUTIES Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities: - Delegate tasks to team staff on personnel’s strengths, skills and workload - Evaluate, challenge, improve and document work processes - Work with staff to normalize productivity and output - Establish ongoing relationships with Brand, Organized Play, CAPS, and Digital Gaming departments - Work with Senior Creative Designer to plan and coordinate ongoing training and development of staff - Assist with ongoing creative creation including flavor text, concepting and world building QUALIFICATIONS Applicant must be capable of leading teams and managing other employees and relationships with other areas of the department. Critical decision-making ability is a must, as well as the ability to manage to deadlines. Applicant must have strong communication skills and attention to detail. Education and Training: B.A., B.S. degree preferred – Preferably focused in analytical thinking (business, engineering, math, philosophy, or science) and/or writing (journalism, creative writing, English). Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: - Two to three years effective team management experience delivering business initiatives or experience leading Magic R&D teams. Experience including setting clear goals and effective delegation. - Knowledge of Magic rules, cards, decks, and strategies. - A strategic thinker who is goal oriented and passionate about driving organizational performance. - A logical and decisive decision maker who can quickly assimilate and act upon information. - Ability to lead others to success under continual deadline constraints providing direction and support where appropriate. - Ability to provide constructive feedback based upon logical reasoning. - Ability to motivate a team with diverse personality types. - Knowledge of creative writing, world building, naming and flavor text. - Ability to coordinate flavor and mechanics.
