Creature/Rigid FX TD

Description

Creature/Rigid FX TDs are responsible for setting up and running rigid body, flesh-surface, cloth and hair simulations, and work closely with the Particle FX TDs and animators to choreograph and implement shots featuring heavy rigid destruction. In addition, they also wrangle rigging and asset pipeline issues proficiently under the direction and guidance of their supervisors.

Primary Duties:

* Set up and run propriety rigid and deforming body simulations for hero destruction and effects. Examples such as destroying hard surface models like automobiles, planes, building structures, freeways, windows and concrete ground.
* Work with the creature and animation supervisor to choreograph, design, and compose simulations within a shot.
* Strategize with particle FX TDs and animators on a shot to divide workload and determine the best methodologies to achieve the desired look for the FX shot.
* Set up rigging and animation expressions for hard surface assets like vehicles, props and building structures that can be used for rigid simulations or by the animation department.
* Work closely with the model department to wrangle hard surface models, with the ability to readjust or fracture the model if needed to produce the desired look for simulations.
* Set up and run proprietary cloth, hair, and flesh surface simulations on creature assets.

Additional Duties:

* Create dynamic simulations in packages such as Maya
* Wrangle creature pipeline issues for artists in other disciplines.
* MOCAP data re-targeting in Maya
* Act as wrangler for a creature and/or simulation techniques used across multiple assets and sequences.
* Basic proficiency in another discipline: modeling, TD, or animation.
