Programming Technical Director
Description
Working with the EMC faculty and staff primarily on the United Nations game project Breakaway, the Programming Technical Director oversees the growth of student programmer’s skills through mentoring, education, and direction. In addition to programming proficiency, s/he must be able to work with cross-functional teams and possess strong communication, negotiation, mediation and conflict resolution skills.
Create a rich learning environment for student teams to grow by enabling them to learn and apply their skills and accomplish project goals in order to build a variety of media and tools for production; being able to critique student’s work in a positive way; and by having a solid understanding of how a production pipeline works.
The successful candidate will develop and implement technical solutions to effectively and efficiently support the creation of high quality creative content across multiple game platforms including a technology strategy for new media and serious game creation across multiple platforms including web to mobile. Direct and maintain file management of media and archiving for audio, video, and images. Create custom applications to support EMC infrastructure, projects, and reporting.
Work closely with the EMC director and assistant director to outline technical requirements for potential project and grant proposals. Analyze project concepts in order to develop a plan towards project production, participate in detailed project scheduling meetings and establish milestones and deadlines, act as a liaison between the creative content staff and the programming team, as well as establish collaborative relationships, technical workflow, and tools that optimize production efficiencies between the groups, gather feedback from the entire team and translate into improved performance. Work with students, partners and EMC staff and faculty towards project goals and within the production pipeline to diagnose and resolve problems.
