This is an exciting Software Engineering position in the Autodesk Shape Manager (ASM) team for a highly motivated person with a strong background in geometric modeling and computer science. ASM is an advanced geometric modeling kernel that is a core component for several Autodesk products. It provides extensive application support in the areas of feature and assembly modeling, wire frame, surface and solid modeling, high performance memory management, and multi-threading, as well as 32-bit and 64-bit native system support. Previous experience with Parasolid, ACIS, or other kernel modelers would be an advantage.
This position offers the successful candidate the opportunity to contribute to the capabilities and quality of ASM, and to work with Autodesk Inventor, the world's leading 3D Digital Prototyping software product. This engineer will be responsible for the architecture, design, and implementation of key geometric modeling components for CAD/CAE applications such as Surface Modeling, Mesh Modeling, Mesh Fitting, and Sheet Metal Bending and Unfolding. A successful candidate is expected to establish ownership in a specific functional area of responsibility within ASM, contribute to its enhancement and maintenance, and work with the application developers that use it.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
· Collaborate with a team of software engineers with strong geometric modeling and computer science skills.
· Work with product architects and product designers to define software application features that address end user needs.
· Design, implement, test and troubleshoot geometric modeling algorithms.
· Gather and manage requirements from application development teams.
· Create software development plans that include cost estimates, risks, and actions to mitigate risks and execute these plans.
· Work closely with the Quality Assurance team in unit level testing and problem resolution.
· Optimize source code to effectively leverage object-oriented design, development, and code reuse.
